Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced that the COVID-19 vaccination center at Qatar National Convention Center will close today.
The center was initially set up to prioritise the vaccination of teachers and school staff. Since opening in February, more than 600,000 people – teachers, school staff and many other eligible members of the community — have been vaccinated at the center.
With the recent opening of the new Qatar Vaccination Centre for Business and Industry Sector significantly boosting capacity of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, the Ministry has decided to close two drive-through vaccination centres and the vaccination centre at the QNCC.
According to the Ministry, more than 330,000 people have used the COVID-19 Drive-Through Vaccination Centers at Lusail and Al Wakra. COVID-19 Drive-Through Vaccination Center at Lusail was closed on June 23 and the last day of operation for Al Wakra COVID-19 Drive-Through Center will be Wednesday June 30.
The Qatar Vaccination Center for Business and Industry Sector has the capacity to administer more than 25,000 doses a day, and continuing capacity for 15,000 doses a day across our 27 health centers, the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program maintains capacity for up to 40,000 doses a day.
