Doha: Customs inspectors have seized large quantities of narcotics in several shipments coming into the country.

General Authority of Customs (GAC) announced that during the recent past, it's inspectors seized large quantities of narcotics including 24.7 kilograms hashish, 6.2 tonnes of illegal chewing tobacco and 3.5 kilograms of Marijuana.

GAC said in a statement today that the drugs were seized in several shipments in customs points at Hamad Port, Hamad International Airport and private airports.

During the honoring of the outstanding inspectors, GAC Chairman Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Jamal praised the efforts by GAC inspectors. He stressed that the Customs provides all means of support and continuous training for its staff to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
