Doha: For the first time, the Cultural Village Foundation — Katara is organising the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival, adding to the diverse slate of festivals the renowned cultural hub hosts every year.
In line with the upcoming festival scheduled in February next year, Katara has announced on its website an open invitation for creative talents residing in Qatar to take part in a logo design competition.
Submission of entries for the contest in developing the best possible depiction of the logo design that will be used as the visual identity of the festival started yesterday. A cash prize of QR10,000 is at stake for the winning logo.
The design must reflect and express the main idea of the festival which focuses on interest on Arabian horses. The design must be simple and creative in expression and should not be derived from or similar to another logo.
The logo should be designed in a way that it can be implemented on all means of advertising, certificates and shields. The contestant must submit electronic forms and proposals for employing the logo in various publications and advertising media.
A maximum of three designs can be submitted by each contestant whether individual or group. The contestant should waive the intellectual property rights in favour of Katara.
The contestant must submit a maximum of 2 A4-size panels, including the design and displaying it in colours, black and white, with different sizes according to its use, and a maximum of two A4 sheets in which the contestant describes his design, its meaning and the design idea.
The contestant must also provide a certificate stating the intellectual property and that the design is not adapted or copied from another logo, as well as personal information of the contestant or the team, including name, country card number, address, phone number, e-mail, and bank account number.

Katara has been organising a variety of festivals aimed towards reviving important cultural traditions such as the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, Katara Oud Festival, Mahaseel Festival, and Halal Qatar Festival, to name a few. It is gearing up to host the fourth edition of the highly successful Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition to be held from October 20 to 24.
