Doha: Qatar football giants Al Rayyan have signed Russia 2018 World Cup winner, France international Steven Nzonzi.
Nzonzi is the latest addition in the Al Rayyan line-up, following the recruitment of Colombian star James Rodriguez who joined the Qatari club few days ago.
The former Sevilla player who later played for Roma, Galatasaray and Rennes, said during yesterday's contract signing ceremony that he is excited ahead of the new experience with Al Rayyan.
"It is an honour for me to play under coach Laurent Blanc, as I watched him from behind the television when I was young when he won the 1998 World Cup. Also, playing alongside James and (Yacine) Brahimi is something I'm looking forward to," Nzonzi said.
"I had many offers before coming to Al Rayyan, but I preferred Al Rayyan's offer, and to experience the country that will host the 2022 World Cup," the tall midfielder said.
