Doha, Qatar: A father jumped off a moving train to save his one-year-old son after the child fell into the gap between the tracks and the platform at a railway station in Bangladesh.
The incident quickly gripped social media, with a video of the moment widely circulating online.
According to local reports, the incident occurred around 3:30pm on Tuesday aboard the Dhaka-bound Titas commuter train at Bhairab Railway Station in Bangladesh. The father, mother, and their child were travelling from Brahmanbaria when they failed to disembark during the train’s scheduled stop.
As the train began to move, the father hurriedly attempted to get off while carrying the child. During the attempt, the child reportedly slipped from his arms and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.
Media reports quoted witnesses who said that the father immediately jumped down without hesitation to rescue his son. He then embraced the child and lay flat against the platform wall as the eight carriages passed over them.
Both the father and son escaped the incident unharmed, while bystanders helped the child’s mother safely disembark from the train.
Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Sun, quoted Falu Mia, a counterman for the Titas commuter train, as he stated that the child fell while the family was attempting to get off the moving train.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of Bhairab Railway Police Station, Sayed Ahmed, confirmed the incident, describing their survival as nothing short of divine mercy.
Following the incident, authorities urged passengers to remain cautious and never attempt to board or disembark from a moving train.
