Katara Falconry and Hunting Championship announces winners of Gyrfalcon category

Doha, Qatar: The second edition of the Katara Falconry and Hunting Championship 2025, which continues until December 6th at the Marmi Sabkha in Sili, revealed its first secrets by announcing the winners of the top five places in the Gyrfalcon category.

The qualifying rounds for the Gyrfalcon category were also held, and the qualifying rounds for the falconry competition for groups 15 through 20 continued.

The winners of the top five places are: Mohammed Yousef Al-Mannai, who won first place with his falcon achieving a time of 1.859 seconds; Team Al-Zam, who won second and fourth place; and Team Lusail, who won third and fifth place.

In the qualifying rounds for the “Qarnas Hurr” category of the falconry competition, 10 participants advanced to the final. The qualifiers are: Al-Shahaniya team (4 falcons), Hamad Abdulhadi bin Nayfa, Mohammed Jassim Al-Kuwari, Mohammed Khabab Al-Nuaimi (2 falcons), and Sultan Hamad Al-Humaidi (2 falcons).

The Al-Shahaniya team’s falcon achieved the best time in the qualifiers, clocking in at 19.719 seconds.

Meanwhile, the excitement continued with the qualifying rounds for the falconry competition for groups 15 through 20, which produced new qualifiers.

The Al-Hussain team made a strong start in the third day of qualifying, securing their place among the qualifiers with two falcons.

Six participants advanced to the next round of the falconry competition: the Al-Hussain team (2 falcons), the Barzan team, Turki Abdullah Al-Dosari, Shaheen Salem Al-Dosari, and Abdulhadi Hamad Al-Hadwan.

Saqr Abdulhadi Hamad Al-Hadwan achieved the best time of 22.36 seconds.

The qualifying rounds for the “Purebred Falcon” category will also continue.

It is also worth mentioning that the Katara Falconry and Hunting Championship 2025, the second edition, is distinguished by its separate competitions for each falcon category.

Each category has its own round, in addition to two rounds dedicated to locally bred falcons, and then an elite round for the Gyrfalcon category, for a total of 15 rounds.
