DMIS celebrates 13th Annual Sports Day

Doha: The 13th Annual Sports Day of the academic session 2017-18 at Doha Modern Indian School, Doha was celebrated with great vigor.
On January 25, the four houses namely, Ruby, Topaz, Emerald and Sapphire, geared in various contingents for a healthy competition. The March Past, led by Assistant Head Boy and Assistant Head Girl, was followed by the Oath Taking ceremony led by the Sports Captain of the school – Sahil Nassem. The Welcome Speech by Sports Vice-Captain – Caren Godli added a formal flavour to the felicitation of Chief Guest, Jayashankar Pillai, Director- Taleb Group of Schools and Guest of Honour, David Thorp, Educational Consultant- Taleb Group. The occasion became complete with the presence of Rakesh Singh Tomar, Principal- DMIS; Padmini Venkitesh, Academic Auditor- Taleb Group; Jane Ballard, Principal- The Cambridge School for Girls; Jacob Mathew, Assistant Principal- DMIS; Academic Coordinators and SLT members.
The much-awaited real show of the talents in the second phase took place with the students participating in various track and field events. It showcased grades 3-4 finals of 60 meters race and grades 5-6 finals of 100 meters race in boys’ and girls’ categories. The prize distribution ceremony of grades 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 was respectively swathed between the finals of grades 7-8, 100 meters race for boys and girls; grades 3-11 Tug of war for boys and grades 3-11 Tug of war for girls.
The final segment was the Tug of War where the Sapphire House trounced Topaz House as runner-up in boys’ category while the Topaz House battered the Ruby House as runner-up in girls’ category; March Past was dominated by Topaz House edging the Ruby House as runner-up; The Ruby House took the Best Overall House Trophy.
