Doha: INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organisation and a member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, will host the Mubadara Awards Ceremony online via Zoom on June 2, 2021, recognising some of Qatar’s most outstanding young entrepreneurs.

The Company Program and Mubadara are INJAZ Qatar’s most interactive and popular education program and event during which student enterprises are established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognised ‘Company Program’.

It has evolved to become a prominent event in the INJAZ Qatar calendar of activities. Student teams were provided with the unique opportunity to establish and run a real business over a period of five months with the guidance of professionals from leading businesses across Qatar.

Fourteen student teams made it to the final stage of the program from universities in Qatar. During the program, students go through the entire life cycle of a startup venture as they develop a business idea, form a team, raise capital of up to QR11,000, devise business plans, and produce and sell a product or a service. Towards the end of the five months of activity, students present their entrepreneurial ideas before a judging panel of business leaders from the local market.

In the upcoming Mubadara 2021 Awards Ceremony, the innovative products and services developed by the student companies will be exhibited and the winners of this year’s competition will be announced giving them the opportunity to represent Qatar at the INJAZ Al Arab regional finals.

Students will compete for one of seven awards, which are: The Best Company of the Year award sponsored by ExxonMobil, the Most Innovative Product/Service award sponsored by Qatar Development Bank, the Best Marketing Plan award, the Best Social Impact Award, the Best Company Report, the Best Public Presentation and the Public Choice Award.

“We are pleased to continue our support for INJAZ Qatar’s highly successful Mubadara program, that in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 has been developing an exceptional enterprise and entrepreneurship mind-set in Qatar’s students since 2012,” said Dominic Genetti, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar.

“Now more than ever, it is vitally important that we come together from different industries to promote, recognise and reward innovation. Preparation for the ever-changing world of work - particularly during these challenging times, is so important and we’re proud to shine the spotlight on the young and talented entrepreneurs amongst us that are going above and beyond for the future of their communities. We wish the winners every success in developing their businesses going forward,” said Genetti.

The Awards Ceremony will host INJAZ Qatar’s Board Members and representatives from the private and public sector including the education sector in Qatar.

The team winning Best Company of the Year Award (University level) will be given ongoing support by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) and seed funding of QR35,000 from BOEING to start their real business.

Bernard Dunn, President of Boeing Middle East, Africa and Turkey said: “Boeing is extremely proud to partner with INJAZ and allow students to experience the full life cycle of a company but also provide those with viable business ideas with the resources they need to take the next step and become entrepreneurs.”

This year’s Mubadara Award Ceremony sponsors are: ExxonMobil as Platinum Sponsor, BOEING is the Strategic Partner for the Start-Up program, Qatar Development Bank is the program partner, QBIC is the Incubation partner who will host the winner and Frame is the Media Partner.
