La Spezia: Italian company Fincantieri held yesterday a ceremony to mark the beginning of steel cutting for the manufacturing of Qatari military vessels, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah; Minister of Defence of the Italian Republic, Elisabetta Trenta, and a number of senior officers and officials from both sides.
In 2016, the Ministry of Defence signed an agreement according to which Fincantieri would build seven new-generation military vessels.
The vessels are part of the Qatari Amiri Navy’s development program, the Ministry’s Directorate of Moral Guidance said in a statement yesterday.
