Qatar has launched a new investment platform ‘Doha Investment’ aimed at supporting economic diversification, strengthening the private sector and driving the growth of businesses across key non-hydrocarbon sectors. The initiative is expected to play a central role in developing national companies, attracting international investment and supporting the country’s long-term economic development goals.

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani announced the initiative at the Qatar Economic Forum: UNGA Special Edition, Powered by Bloomberg, in New York. Doha Investment will build and grow Qatar’s national champions through active investment and partnerships in priority non-hydrocarbon sectors, while attracting international capital, expertise and technology.

The platform would expand the role of the private sector in driving economic growth. It will support established companies, help emerging businesses scale, deepen capital markets and attract international investment.  Doha Investment will manage Qatar wInvestment Authority’s (QIA) portfolio of domestic investments, including Qatar Airways Group, QNB Group, Ooredoo Group, Qatari Diar, Katara Hospitality and Hassad Food. These companies operate globally while contributing significantly to Qatar’s economy.

At launch, Doha Investment’s portfolio comprises more than 40 companies operating across more than 80 markets. The portfolio covers financial services, transport and logistics, telecommunications and technology, real estate, hospitality, food and agriculture. More than 20 portfolio companies recorded revenues exceeding QR1bn in 2025.

The platform will also focus on developing new national champions in priority areas including advanced technologies, manufacturing, supply chains and healthcare. This includes Qai, a national artificial intelligence platform established to enable and scale the deployment of trusted AI across enterprises and society. Doha Investment would work with local and international investors to build the next generation of Qatari national champions by combining capital, expertise and technology in sectors where Qatar has growth potential. The platform is also expected to support high-skilled job creation, strengthen local supply chains and develop national talent.

The initiative supports Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy (NDS3), including its ambition for the private sector to become a primary engine of a sustainable and diversified economy.
