Qatar Stars League clubs are wrapping up their overseas training camps, and there’s a real sense of confidence building around the league heading into the new season.
The camps are spread out this year over several European countries, including Austria, Spain, Slovakia, the Netherlands and Turkiye, and every club is treating this stretch as more than just fitness work.
This is where coaches lay down their tactical ideas, new signings get comfortable with teammates, and squads start figuring out who they actually are before a ball is kicked in anger.
The sheer number of clubs heading abroad says something too - this is just what professional football in Qatar looks like now.
Al Sadd, the reigning champions, are setting the tone under their new coach, Romanian Razvan Lucescu.
Their Austria camp has mixed heavy physical sessions with competitive friendlies, giving players time to adjust to his system ahead of the League’s kick-off which is set for August 20.
Al Arabi are in Spain working through a packed friendly schedule, while Al Duhail set up in Amsterdam, looking to climb back to the top of Qatari football. Al Gharafa are grinding through their camp in Slovakia while Al Rayyan and Qatar SC are both testing themselves against European sides in Spain.
In Turkiye, Al Khor, back in the top flight after promotion, are preparing with a squad they’ve clearly strengthened for the step up.
All this points to a league that keeps raising its own bar.
Winning at home isn’t enough anymore — clubs are expected to hold their own continentally, bring through young players, and run things the way the top leagues in Asia do.
Off the pitch, the Qatar Stars League and Doha Bank have extended their partnership - naming rights included - all the way to 2030 in a huge vote of confidence from both sides in where the league is headed.
Alongside that, the league has rolled out an updated Doha Bank Stars League logo - a refreshed look that modernises the visual identity.
Branding doesn’t win you matches, obviously, but it does shape how a league is seen by fans, sponsors and audiences well beyond Qatar’s borders.
With the opening fixtures closing in, fans can feel the optimism at every club. Months of planning and recruitment are about to be tested for real.
