Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani promulgated the Law No. (12) of 2024 for the nationalisation of jobs in the private sector in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The law seeks to significantly increase the effective participation of the national workforce in private sector institutions and companies, opening up new employment and career opportunities for Qataris and the children of Qatari women, thereby maximising the utilisation of qualified national competencies.
By the end of 2024, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) launched the ‘National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024-2030’, setting a clear roadmap for private-sector nationalisation, and aiming to raise the proportion of Qataris employed in this sector from 17 percent to 20 percent.
The MoL in February this year launched Qatar Nationalisation Award for the Private Sector.
The registration for the award is now open via the Himmah platform, and individuals and private sector entities are invited to participate. The ministry has set May 9, 2026, as the final deadline for registration for the award, urging eligible participants to apply through the platform.
The award aims to advance excellence in the national workforce through several core objectives. These include encouraging constructive competition among private sector entities to enhance workforce nationalisation initiatives, showcasing Qatari talent by highlighting professionals contributing significantly to private sector growth, recognising visionary leadership and innovative practices that support sustainable human capital development, and acknowledging measurable progress by rewarding organisations that achieve nationalisation targets and demonstrate tangible results.
The award recognises entities and individuals who play a vital role in advancing workforce nationalisation and strengthening the presence of Qatari talent in the labour market. The award recipients are recognised with “pride and deep appreciation,” reflecting their meaningful contribution to shaping a supportive and motivating work environment. Beyond recognition, the award is designed to celebrate success stories that create real impact and inspire wider participation in national development efforts.
The award highlights outstanding achievements that bring about meaningful change, showcasing success stories across different fields.
It recognises individual excellence through six distinguished awards covering various career stages, while also honouring entities through eight awards spanning nine key economic sectors.
Winning entities receive a comprehensive package of incentives, including an official trophy, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Labour, national recognition, an announcement on the award’s official website, and authorisation to use the award logo for one year, thereby enhancing institutional visibility and prestige.
