Qatar’s latest announcement of development and humanitarian support to Lebanon is part of a consistent, long-standing policy rooted in solidarity, responsibility, and a firm belief that Lebanon’s stability is essential to regional security. Guided by the directives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar has once again demonstrated that its commitment to Lebanon goes beyond words, translating political support into tangible assistance that addresses urgent needs and strengthens national institutions.
The $434m package, delivered through the Qatar Fund for Development and coordinated with Lebanese authorities, reflects a comprehensive approach to support. The package will support Lebanon’s energy sector, education, youth empowerment, and the Lebanese Armed Forces, benefiting more than 1.5 million people.
Qatar’s leadership has repeatedly stressed that Lebanon’s stability is a cornerstone of regional stability. This principle was reaffirmed by Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, who emphasised that Qatar’s engagement with Lebanon is unwavering. His remarks reflect a broader position that supports dialogue, national consensus, and the strengthening of Lebanese state institutions for lasting security and prosperity.
Over recent years, Qatar has provided sustained assistance to Lebanese Armed Forces, including support for soldiers’ salaries, fuel supplies, and military vehicles.
Qatar’s role in Lebanon is also deeply anchored in its political stance. From mediation efforts and reconstruction support in the aftermath of the 2006 conflict to continued advocacy for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Qatar has maintained a principled position aligned with international legitimacy. Its call for adherence to international law and condemnation of violations against Lebanese territory further underline its commitment to peace and rules-based order.
Qatar’s sustained support for Lebanon reflects a broader foreign policy grounded in partnership, fraternity, and responsibility.
