As 2025 draws to a close, Qatar stands out as a nation making considerable strides in its journey towards Qatar National Vision 2030, a long-term blueprint for sustainable development, economic diversification, and enhanced quality of life. Under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the state has continued to invest in people and place them at the centre of its development agenda.

This year has been marked not only by measurable progress in national competitiveness and economic reform, but also by an increasingly prominent role in global diplomacy, conflict mediation, and sustainable development.

Economically, Qatar’s long-term policies are yielding tangible results. In the 2025 Global Competitiveness Report, Qatar entered the top ten countries worldwide for the first time, ranking ninth overall and fifth in business efficiency. It is a reflection of the country’s robust economic frameworks, public sector efficiency, and continued investment in infrastructure and institutional excellence.

Throughout 2025, Qatar continued to strengthen its long-term planning frameworks by issuing a series of strategic plans and policy initiatives across multiple government ministries and agencies, reinforcing progress towards the Qatar National Vision 2030.

In 2025, Qatar reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to sustainable global development and multilateral cooperation, aligning closely with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its own Qatar National Vision 2030. The State actively participated in key United Nations forums. Qatar also hosted the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, a landmark UN gathering that brought together heads of state, ministers, civil society leaders, and private sector representatives to advance global dialogue on social justice, poverty eradication, decent work, and inclusion. The summit culminated in the adoption of the Doha Political Declaration, reaffirming collective global commitments to social development, equality, and leaving no one behind.

Qatar, Egypt and the US also continued their efforts to end the war in Gaza, and they succeeded in achieving a much-needed ceasefire agreement in 2025.

2025 was a busy year for Qatar’s diplomacy and development efforts. The country will continue to play its leadership role for peace and development in the region and beyond under the leadership of H H the Amir in years and decades to come.
