Doha: Talabat, the region’s leading food delivery and grocery platform, said it has distributed 10,000 meals to in-need communities, in conjunction with Qatar Charity, as a result of the QR1 donation campaign.

The campaign, in which talabat donated QR1 to Qatar Charity for every grocery order made through the talabat app, encouraged customers to purchase their groceries online, in order to stay home and stay safe during the COVID-19 period. The donations equated to 10,000 meals, which were then distributed to the in-need communities in Qatar.

Abdulaziz Jassim Haji, Director of the Customer Service Department at Qatar Charity said that the campaign creatively encouraged people to stay at home, while truly making a difference to local communities. "We would like to thank talabat Qatar for addressing our cause creatively. During this period, it is important for the community to gather their efforts and support those in need. This has been a challenging Ramadan and COVID-19 period for a number of families and individuals and the QR1 campaign successfully provided them with the support required," Haji said.

Francisco De Souza, Managing Director of talabat Qatar, said he was proud of the community spirit Qatar citizens and residents have shown right throughout the COVID-19 period.

"I am glad to see the community pulling together through our platform to provide the support many require during this pandemic. For every order made by our customers, they’ve supported someone in need. talabat Qatar will continue to look at ways to creatively support the local community as it did through the QR1 campaign with Qatar Charity."
