Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion

Museum of Islamic Art, MIA
This exhibition explores the Uzbekistan’s rich Islamic heritage and its lasting influence on its culture, creativity and national identity.
Organised in partnership with the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the exhibition traces the country’s Islamic history from before the 8th-century conquest of Central Asia to the present day, highlighting the connection between its heritage and its identity as a modern nation.
Visitors can discover historic manuscripts, architecture, ceramics, jewellery, clothing and silk textiles while learning about influential Islamic thinkers and the Samanid and Timurid eras.

Ektashif Uzbekistan Exhibition

Explore artworks by Qatari artists inspired by their journey through Uzbekistan and its rich Islamic heritage, traditional arts and iconic architecture.
Ektashif Uzbekistan is the result of an educational trip organised by the Museum of Islamic Art in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2025, the artists visited Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, gaining inspiration from the cities’ distinctive Islamic architecture and traditional arts.
The exhibition showcases works inspired by the journey, reflecting the artists’ experiences and new perspectives on traditional Islamic art.

Chess for All – Beginners Chess CompetitioN

Beginner chess players are invited to put their skills to the test at its Beginners Chess Competition, offering participants a friendly and supportive introduction to competitive tournament play.
As part of the Chess for All community, the competition aims to help new players build confidence, improve their skills and connect with fellow chess enthusiasts. To ensure a fair and enjoyable experience, applicants must complete a short chess assessment by attending one of four available sessions.
Participants are encouraged to practise using a chess clock, play timed games on platforms such as Chess.com and attend the Library’s weekly Chess for All sessions to prepare for the competition.
The Murshidi Program: Academic & Career Mentoring

This is a new mentorship programme connecting high school and early university students with accomplished leaders, alumni and experts from Education City and other leading institutions in Qatar. The programme will offer one-on-one guidance and personalised advice on university applications, scholarships, career planning and succeeding in academic and professional environments.
An introductory session will explain the mentorship process and give participants an opportunity to meet the mentors, interact with them and choose the one who best matches their academic and career goals.
