Doha: The Theater Affairs Center at the Ministry of Culture and Sports organised recently the activities of ‘Arbat Al Zaman’ (mobile theater) in Al Khor Park.
The world-famous mobile theatre is known to reach the public in their places of residence and gatherings, such as public places, parks, and other areas in the country.
This type of theatre was being held for the first time in Qatar.
The Director of the Theater Affairs Center of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Salah Al Mulla, said: “The mobile theater activities were held at Al Khor Park for the first time in Qatar, after the availability and activation of all theatrical elements related to children’s theatre, school and university theater, and the puppet theater."
Al Mulla added that during this period, the focus was on puppet theatre, so the idea of a mobile theatre, which dates back to more than 200 years ago, came about, as this vehicle moves from one region to another with the participation of a group of artistes.
He said that the main goal of this activity is to reach 2022 and participate in the launching activities of FIFA World Cup 2022, which will be hosted by Qatar, holding a number of storytelling and theatrical performances, in which characters and stories had an impact in the world and on humanity.
He said that these activities focus on children, enhance the value of research and exploration, and make use of simple resources to achieve the goals that are reflected by the themes chosen for the theatrical performances in the mobile theatre.
Al Mulla stressed that the Center for Theater Affairs is keen to ensure that the mobile theatre travels to all regions of the country, and be present in public parks and commercial complexes according to the conditions and precautionary measures followed in the state.
