DOHA: The General Authority of Customs marked Arab Customs Day that falls on March 3 by organising a workshop at its headquarters to create awareness about intellectual property rights, anti commercial fraudulent and other different types of counterfeiting.
The workshop was held in cooperation with Saba Intellectual Property, an intellectual property firm in Qatar said a release. The awareness lectures were held under the patronage of Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Jamal, Director of the General Authority of Customs. The event was attended by heads of the department and employees from all departments of customs check posts. A number of representatives from the departments of the protection of the intellectual property rights and consumer protection department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and he Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology.
Malik Ibrahim Al Qamaz, Director of Saba Intellectual Property delivered a lecture on combating commercial fraudulent in which he explained the measures for protecting intellectual property rights at check posts.
Samples of various counterfeit products that were seized in Qatar were showcased at the event to educate the participants about the fraudulent in commercial products.
Hayat Al Widani from Legal Affairs Department at the General Authority of Customs gave a presentation on the role of custom in the protection of intellectual property rights and legislations that are being implemented at various customs department to protect the intellectual property and rights and trademarks.
