The Holy Quran memorization centres run by the Religious Calls and Guidance Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs carried out many programmes, lectures, religious courses during the second quarter of 2019 benefiting a total of 19,923 women and girls.
These activities targeted female students in 21 Holy Quran memorization centres operating across the country, which includes citizens and residents.
It also targeted female students in schools of various stages of education, and employees working in some government and private institutions, through organising lectures and programmes offered by a prominent religious scholars. The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs represented by the Department of Call and Guidance provided all necessary facilities to these centres to accommodate all segments of girls and women and children.
The memorization centres for women are keen on teaching the students in the recitation, discipline through special courses that include alphabet lessons, theoretical intonation and correct recitation through sound letters as well as courses to improve the recitation and intensive courses in memorizing parts of the Quran and others in the interpretation and improvement of recitation.
The centres for women organised 718 courses for holy Quran learning in two shifts morning and evening under the supervision of great teachers.
A total of 8,779 children, young girls and women benefited from Sahaib Al Khair-13 programme, a seasonal advocacy programme that comes from the vision of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance in promoting religious awareness and high moral values and principles among the segments of the Qatari female community of school students and members of the Quran memorization centres affiliated to the Ministry and community centres.
The programme also targeted female employees working in government institutions to educate them about religious teachings like holy month of Ramadan and others. Under the program a number of religious lectures were delivered on the subjects on Ramadan, holy Quran and other religious issues.
