Doha, Qatar: Nesto, one of the GCC’s prominent retail groups, has entered the Qatari market with the opening of its first hypermarket in Al Gharrafa, Doha. The new outlet marks the group’s 152nd store worldwide and the beginning of an expansion programme that will see eight more outlets opened across Qatar.

The new hypermarket was inaugurated by Chief Patron Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, Board Member of Qatar Chamber; Sheikh Hamad bin Thani Al Thani; and Mohammed Mubarak Al-Ameri, Director of the Markets and Specialized Licensing Department, in the presence of Western International Group Chairman K.P. Basheer and Nesto Group Managing Director Jamal K P.

The Al Gharrafa outlet offers a wide range of products under one roof, including fresh produce, food and groceries, household essentials, fashion, electronics and lifestyle products. The hypermarket aims to cater to Qatar’s diverse consumer base by offering competitive prices, product variety and convenience.

Speaking on the occasion, Nesto Group Managing Director Jamal Kunhiparambath said Qatar had been a highly anticipated destination in the group’s growth journey.

“Qatar has been a highly anticipated destination in Nesto’s growth journey, and we are proud to finally bring the Nesto experience to customers here. Our 152nd store represents much more than another milestone—it marks the beginning of a long-term journey in Qatar,” he said.

He added that Nesto would focus on building customer trust through quality, choice and value, which have been central to the group’s retail operations across the region.

The company said eight additional outlets are currently in the pipeline in Qatar, signalling its intention to establish a wider retail presence across the country. The expansion is also expected to generate employment opportunities and create new partnerships within the local retail ecosystem.

Nesto’s entry into Qatar comes as the group continues to expand its regional footprint, with the Al Gharrafa hypermarket becoming the latest addition to its network of 152 stores worldwide.

The company said its Qatar expansion would focus on bringing a wider choice of products and competitive prices closer to communities while contributing to the country’s growing retail sector.
