Doha, Qatar: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrated the completion of the Clinical Social Worker Certification Programme, organised by the Social Work Department under the Clinical Operations Directorate, in collaboration with PHCC’s Workforce Training and Development Directorate, the Department of Healthcare Professions (Registration and Licensing Section) at the Ministry of Public Health, as well as Qatar University’s Clinical Affairs and Health Sector.

The graduation ceremony held recently in the presence of several leaders, officials, and representatives of partner organisations. The event reflected PHCC’s commitment to developing national talent and enhancing the quality of healthcare services in line with the latest professional standards and the evolving needs of Qatar’s healthcare sector.

During the ceremony, 15 social workers graduated after successfully completing all academic, training, and practical requirements of the programme, which was delivered over a six-month period from December 2025 to May 2026. The programme aimed to prepare qualified national professionals capable of providing specialised clinical social work services in accordance with the latest professional and scientific standards.

Assistant Managing Director of Operations and Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of Operations at PHCC, Dr. Samya Ahmad Al Abdullah emphasised that the programme reflects the Corporation’s firm commitment to investing in specialised national talent, recognising it as the cornerstone of advancing healthcare and social services and enhancing the quality of care provided to the community.

Director of Clinical Operations, Dr. Maryam Al Emadi stated that the programme represents a strategic response to the growing need for qualified clinical social workers and serves as a genuine investment in human capital based on the latest professional and scientific standards.

Dr. Al Emadi explained that the programme was developed in collaboration with Qatar University and with the participation of a distinguished group of academics, experts, and specialists from various partner organisations.

The programme aimed to equip participants with the ability to apply advanced theories and models in understanding human behaviour and social environments, conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, and utilise evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address complex mental health and psychosocial challenges. It also reinforced ethical principles and cultural competence in professional practice.

Meanwhile, Manager of Social Work Services at PHCC, Maryam Al Yaqoub said that the programme was designed to develop and enhance participants’ advanced clinical skills, particularly in psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, and the implementation of specialised professional interventions.

She added that the programme focused on expanding scientific knowledge related to mental health disorders and evidence-based approaches for managing them, thereby preparing qualified professionals capable of delivering integrated, high-quality services to individuals, families, and groups facing complex psychological and social challenges.

A number of leading national institutions participated in the implementation and support of the programme, including Qatar University, PHCC represented by the Clinical Operations Directorate and the Workforce Training and Development Directorate, the Department of Healthcare Professions (Registration and Licensing Section) at the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Ehsan Center, Naufar, and the Ministry of Social Development and Family.  The programme achieved several positive outcomes, most notably the qualification of 15 social workers in clinical practice, enhancing their professional knowledge and skills through specialised training, and establishing a professional collaboration network among healthcare, academic, and social institutions.

These achievements support PHCC’s efforts to develop social services and improve the quality of care provided to beneficiaries, while also fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the workplace.
