Doha, Qatar: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is launching its 2026 Patient Safety Campaign from 17 to 23 September 2026, as part of Qatar Patient Safety Week and in conjunction with World Patient Safety Day, observed annually on September 17.

This year’s observance is held under the theme “Safe Care for Noncommunicable Diseases” and the global message “Safe Care for Life,” highlighting the importance of providing safe and continuous care for people living with noncommunicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and other conditions that require long-term follow-up and management.

In this context, Executive Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Innovation at PHCC, Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Ali emphasised that patient safety is a strategic priority for the Corporation. She noted that enhancing the safety of care provided to people living with noncommunicable diseases requires a genuine partnership between patients and healthcare providers, alongside a sustained commitment to quality- and safety-based practices throughout the patient journey.

For her part, Director of Risk Management, Patient Safety and Patient Engagement at PHCC, Nawal Khattabi explained that the campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection, regular follow-up and adherence to treatment plans. It also seeks to empower patients to play an active role as partners in their own healthcare safety, contributing to reducing risks, improving health outcomes and enhancing quality of life.

PHCC health centres are hosting a series of awareness activities and events alongside the campaign, including educational booths for patients and visitors, workshops and training programs for healthcare professionals, as well as educational and digital materials shared through PHCC’s social media platforms.
