Port Vila: An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean today.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 188.1 kilometers and 56 kilometers northeast of Port Olry.
In December 2024, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, killing 14 people and damaging commercial buildings, embassies and a hospital.
