London: Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has received a commendation from the UK-based Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) in the 2026 Health and Safety in the Workplace category.
This came at the CIHT Annual Awards ceremony in London, where Qatar Rail was recognized for its efforts in improving safety practices and culture at work.
The commendation reflects the success of a comprehensive programme implemented throughout 2024 and 2025 to strengthen workplace health and safety, protect employees and passengers, and embed a proactive safety culture across Qatar Rail's operations and networks.
This also reflects Qatar Rail's structured approach, with health and safety embedded in annual business planning and supported by clear milestones, performance indicators, and risk management measures.
As part of its continuous improvement efforts, Qatar Rail updated its Zero Harm standard and launched a three-year plan to strengthen safety performance through improved leading indicators, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, expanded training, stronger senior management engagement, and closer collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
