Doha, Qatar: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has issued an alert to Apple Mac users in Qatar over a high-risk vulnerability affecting the Screen Sharing feature in macOS.
"The vulnerability has been actively exploited, particularly on devices connected to the internet," the NCSA said in a statement.
"Attackers have been observed exploiting the vulnerability to gain root-level privileges and deploy malware that uses the resources of compromised devices to mine cryptocurrency," the agency added.
The NCSA urged all macOS users to immediately update their devices to the latest available security release and disable Screen Sharing when it is not in use.
The versions most at risk include macOS Tahoe versions prior to 26.6.1, macOS Sequoia versions prior to 15.7.9, and macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.8.9.
