Doha, Qatar: Tunisia secured their first victory at the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship in Doha yesterday, defeating Venezuela 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23) in Pool A at Aspire Ladies Hall.
Youssef Mallek led Tunisia with a match-high 27 points, including 23 attacks and three aces, while captain Mahdi Jenhani added 16 points. Tunisia’s work at the net proved decisive as they produced 16 blocks to Venezuela’s two, with Mallek, Mohamed Bilel Gobji and Anas Gueddiche among those making an impact.
The result was one of four first victories on a dramatic Day 4, which featured three five-set matches.
Brazil remained unbeaten at 2-0 in Pool C after edging Poland 3-2 (25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 16-14), while Romania defeated Cuba 3-0 in Pool B.
Egypt also claimed their first win, overcoming Turkiye 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 15-12), while Chinese Taipei came from two sets down to beat Algeria 3-2 in Pool E.
