Doha: Qatar Fund for Development  (QFFD) and Qatar Charity (QC) signed an agreement with the World Food Programme to support WFP’s humanitarian activities in Yemen at an estimated total cost of $2.95m.

The pact is in line with their strategic plan, through supporting populations suffering from food insecurity and ensuring their minimum nutritional requirements in Yemen’s urban and semi-urban areas. The projects are estimated to benefit more than 2,56,000 people in various governorates in Yemen.

The agreement was signed by Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Maliki, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Rome and Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations agencies in Rome, on behalf of Qatar Fund for Development and Faisal bin Rashid Al Alfhidh, Assistant Chief Executive Officer for International Operations and Partnerships at Qatar Charity, and David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme.

The agreement is part of the efforts of the State of Qatar, through Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity to respond to the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the ongoing conflict in Yemen, by supporting the World Food Programme in delivering essential humanitarian and basic needs in line with the assessment of Yemen humanitarian response plan for 2019.
