Doha, Qatar: Thirty Qatari and resident students have completed an intensive three-week programme focused on memorising the Holy Quran and studying the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the Al Emadi Model Educational Centre.
Organised by the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, through its Quran and Quranic Sciences Section, the programme was held as part of the “Summer of Growth and Achievement” initiative from July 18 to August 8.
Held under the theme “We Help Memorise the Quran… and Build the Person,” the programme ran daily from 9:30am to 2pm. It sought to make productive use of students’ summer holidays by combining Quran memorisation and revision with spiritual development, moral education and character building.
The programme featured intensive Quran memorisation sessions and regular revision based on an educational plan designed to support the centre’s objectives in memorisation and retention. Organisers provided a supportive educational environment designed to help students make the most of their holiday while developing a strong spiritual foundation through memorising, reciting and understanding the Quran.
Alongside the Quran sessions, students attended educational lessons and talks on the Prophet’s biography, spiritual reflection, values and ethics. The sessions were delivered by preachers from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The lessons aimed to strengthen the students’ connection with the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and encourage them to draw educational and moral lessons from his character and experiences. The programme also included trips and recreational activities designed to combine learning with enjoyment.
The centre organised eight Quran memorisation circles, each named after a prominent companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They were the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, Umar ibn Al-Khattab, Uthman ibn Affan, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Saad ibn Abi Waqqas, Abdul Rahman ibn Awf, Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib and Al-Zubair ibn Al-Awwam circles.
The Al Emadi Model Educational Centre is a specialised institution dedicated to Quran education and the development of talented students. The centre was established through a generous donation from Hassan Ismail Al Emadi.
It primarily focuses on Qatari students and offers programmes that combine mastery of Quran memorisation with spiritual education and life-skills development.
Its programmes aim to nurture a conscious and balanced generation of Quran memorizers who demonstrate a high level of proficiency while embodying strong moral values.
The summer programme is part of the Quran and Quranic Sciences Section’s ongoing efforts to develop specialised Quran programmes, provide appropriate educational environments and strengthen the outcomes of Quran education centres. The initiative also reflects the Ministry’s commitment to diversifying educational and developmental programmes during school holidays, helping young people use their free time in beneficial activities that combine learning, personal development and character building.
These programmes support the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to build a conscious and faith-based society, strengthen Islamic values and reinforce national identity.
