DOHA: Qatar Charity’s (QC) office in Indonesia distributed food baskets to benefit more than 3,000 families in the city of Tangerang.
The distribution was made in coordination with local authorities as part of QC’s continuous efforts to support vulnerable families and fight poverty. The underprivileged beneficiary households were selected in 13 districts and 104 neighbourhoods in the city in coordination with social welfare departments.
Arief Wismansyah, Mayor of Tangerang, said, “It is an expensive gift for the beneficiaries. QC’s assistance would not stop at this point, hoping QC’s support for sustainable development projects, as the city has a population of two million people.” Agus Hindra, Head of Tangerang, appreciated the move. Umm Hassan, the mother of an orphaned girl sponsored by Qatar Charity, expressed her thanks to Allah the Almighty for this food basket that will help feed her family for 25 days, noting that earlier, she had received the Eid dress for her daughter sponsored by the charity.
Karam Zeinhom Aly, Director of QC’s office in Indonesia, said QC’s interventions in the country came in response to needs expressed by beneficiary communities, civil society organizations, and government departments.
