Doha: One person was arrested recently by authorities for stealing two vehicles and burning them.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior seized the accused after receiving a report about the incident.
The Ministry of Interior tweeted on its official Twitter account that a video showing the crime was going viral on the social media.
The accused, who admitted stealing the two vehicles and burning them in some secluded area, was arrested after a through investigation and referred to the authorities concerned for further legal proceedings.
“Motorists are urged to ensure the security of their cars and not to leave them unattended without switching off the engine and not to keep valuable items inside in a visible way, so that the criminals can get chances to involve in such crime,” ministry tweeted.
A number of people appreciated the efforts of the ministry and the security forces for speedy action.
One of them commented on the social media of the ministry that “during my five years in Qatar, I always leave my personal property and my mobiles in the car and always found it as it is. Such cases are rare and hope that this safety and security last.”
The law enforcement authorities earlier this year arrested a gang specialised in stealing items from vehicles after breaking windows from various parts of the country.
