Doha, Qatar: Qatar's Ministry of Labour announced the launch of the National Referral System as a step to combat human trafficking in the country.

In a social media post, the Ministry said that this initiative comes from the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and establishes a clear framework that strengthens prevention and protection of stakeholders.

The Ministry describes the initiative as an officially approved national framework establishing procedural rules and pathways for governmental and non-governmental coordination, governing reporting, coordination, referral, protection, assistance, and criminal prosecution in human trafficking cases.

It added that this initiative streamlines coordination to ensure a timely, effective and integrated response under Qatari legislation and relevant international standards.

The Ministry further stated that as part of implementing an effective referral mechanism for human trafficking cases, it has adopted a comprehensive procedural framework with the active participation of government and non-government stakeholders, ensuring coordinated and integrated action across all relevant parties.
