For much of its history, Qatar built its motorsport reputation by inviting the world’s greatest drivers and riders to race under the lights of the Lusail International Circuit. However, Qatar is offering something that very few venues can match later this season. In the space of five weeks, Lusail will stage the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Qatar 1812 KM (22 to 24 October 2026), the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix (6 to 8 November 2026) and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix (27 to 29 November 2026).
The iconic venue has never been content with simply appearing on the calendar. Since MotoGP first arrived in 2004, the circuit has repeatedly carved out its own identity, most memorably by introducing the championship’s first night race in 2008. Formula 1 followed with its debut in 2021 before becoming a permanent fixture from 2023. The arrival of the Qatar 1812 KM in 2024 completed an exclusive collection, making Lusail one of only two circuits in the world to host motorsport’s three premier championships while also earning the FIA’s highest three-star environmental certification. What makes this run of events particularly significant is their diversity. Endurance racing rewards patience, strategy and reliability across ten demanding hours. MotoGP showcases split-second bravery and precision on two wheels. Formula 1 combines cutting-edge engineering with elite driving talent at the pinnacle of single-seater racing. Hosting all three in such quick succession transforms Lusail from a venue into the focal point of global motorsport during the closing months of the season.
Thousands of visitors will arrive in Qatar, bringing international attention and reinforcing the country’s reputation as a destination capable of delivering world-class sporting events. The festivals, concerts, fan zones and hospitality experiences surrounding each championship underline a broader vision that places entertainment alongside elite competition.
Perhaps even more important is what this says about Qatar’s changing place in the sport. For years, the country was recognised as an exceptional host, and today, it is steadily becoming a participant as well. Team Qatar’s recent appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans signalled that local ambitions now stretch beyond organising events to competing on motorsport’s biggest stages. That evolution gives greater meaning to everything happening at Lusail. Lusail has steadily built that reputation, proving it can host the world’s finest championships year after year while continuing to evolve. This unprecedented five-week stretch is not merely a busy calendar. It is confirmation that Qatar has secured a lasting place at the very heart of international motorsport.
