NEW DELHI: New Delhi: Two people were killed and seven others sustained injuries following the collapse of a multi-storey building in the Satya Niketan area of south Delhi on Sunday, local police officials said.
The building collapsed at around 130 p.m. when repair work was underway in the basement. So far, nine people have been rescued from under the rubble, of whom two died and the other seven were receiving treatment at a local hospital, the officer added.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force were carrying out the rescue and relief work amid fears that more people remained trapped.
The collapsed building was constructed in violation of regulations, according to media reports.
