DOHA: Following the great success of the first Qatar Math Day, and in order to enhance the efforts of development in the field of academic research in mathematics in Qatar, the Qatar University's (QU) organising committee is set to launch the second edition of Qatar Math Day on Sunday.
This academic platform gathers all those interested in mathematics in Qatar, including researchers and instructors, in the field of education and research, to exchange research and educational experiences.
The event will also include presentations relating to academic research in the mathematics field and on mathematics teaching methods in Qatar. In addition, mathematics instructors in the secondary level of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education can join workshops offered as part of the program.
This edition of Qatar Math Day is organized specifically by QU’s Foundation Program Department of Math, at the Deanship of General Studies, along with the department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics (MSP) at QU’s College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Mathematics at the Department of Educational Guidance at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Qatar Math Day plays an active role in encouraging those interested in the field of mathematics to develop their learning and teaching methods, in the school or university context, which will positively impact recruitment of Qatari students and help retain them in scientific, medical and engineering fields. It also highlights the state’s competencies and the efforts made by teachers, lecturers and researchers, both at QU and other centers of higher education in the country.
