Doha, Qatar: The Medical Services Unit of the Qatari Hajj Mission has held a coordination meeting with its teams of doctors, pharmacists, nurses and paramedics as part of intensive preparations for the 2026 Hajj season, reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare and medical support for pilgrims throughout their spiritual journey.

Officials said the gathering aimed to unify efforts and guarantee integrated healthcare services for pilgrims from the moment they arrive in the holy sites until their safe return home.

The Medical Services Unit confirmed its full readiness for the upcoming Hajj season through a coordinated national system involving the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Primary Health Care Corporation.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the approved medical operational plan for the Hajj season, including healthcare protocols, preventive measures, and rapid response mechanisms for medical emergencies and critical cases.

Dr. Abdulhadi revealed that the Qatari Hajj Mission this year will be accompanied by a fully integrated medical team comprising 36 specialised personnel, including family physicians, emergency doctors and epidemiology specialists, alongside nurses, paramedics and pharmacists working around the clock across different pilgrimage sites.

The Head of the Medical Services Unit urged pilgrims to comply with health guidelines approved by the Ministry of Public Health, noting that meningitis vaccination is mandatory for all pilgrims and remains valid for five years.

He also recommended COVID-19 vaccination for high-risk groups, including elderly people, pregnant women, individuals with chronic illnesses and immunocompromised patients, alongside seasonal influenza vaccination.

Dr. Abdulhadi said vaccines are available at all health centres operated by Primary Health Care Corporation and should ideally be taken at least 14 days before travel, with a minimum of 10 days to ensure effectiveness.
